In the meantime, here’s our pocket guide to Palm Springs Pride 2025! 🏳️🌈
When & Where
Mark your calendars, boyz: Palm Springs Pride 2025 takes place November 6–9, 2025. The heart of the action happens downtown on Palm Canyon Drive and Arenas Road, where the streets transform into a rainbow-soaked playground of stages, DJs, vendors, cocktails, and plenty of eye-candy in the streets.
But don’t forget the kinkier festivities leading up to this: Palm Springs Leather Pride (Oct 30–Nov 2, 2025), hosted by the Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert. Think harnesses, gatherings, leather-clad desert daddies, and even a play party.
Notable Pride Events
Palm Springs Pride Festival & Parade
The Pride Festival runs all weekend with multiple entertainment stages, vendors, and community booths. For full details, head to the official Palm Springs Pride festival page.
The Palm Springs Pride Parade is a mile-long procession of floats, drag queens, marching bands, activists, and solidarity. It takes place Sunday, November 9, along Palm Canyon Drive. And, yes, you’ll want to grab a cocktail and a shady spot early – or secure your spot at our annual Pride on the Rooftop Party. 🕺
Pride on the Rooftop
Our now-legendary Pride on the Rooftop party returns, bringing world-class DJs, panoramic mountain views, and a decidedly sexy crowd. General admission tickets are still available – and hot tip: use code PSGUYS for $10 off GA (while supplies last)!
Pride Run & Walk 5K
Work off last night’s tequila shots with the Palm Springs Pride Run & Walk on Saturday morning. It’s part fitness, part fundraising, and fully fabulous. Sign up here: Palm Springs Pride Run.
Oscar’s World Famous Tea Dance
Oscar’s Sunday Tea Dance on Nov 9 is a must if you haven’t yet experienced it. Think open-air dance floor, shirtless men twirling in the desert sun, and classic gay disco DJ beats.
After Dark: Parties & Nightlife
If Palm Springs Pride had a middle name, it would be “after-party.” Here are the essentials:
Desertopia: Known for immersive, queer-forward dance experiences. Expect costumes, lights, and a crowd that actually dances.
Le Parties Weekend Massive: The big-room boys’ party, featuring superstar DJs and massive production.
Desert Heat: Sexy beats, hotter bodies, all-night energy.
BRÜT Party: Muscle, leather, and growls – if you like your Pride with an edge.
Want to bar-hop instead? Head straight to the Arenas District – a rainbow-lit strip of bars, clubs, and patios where the party never stops.
Drag & Diva Magic
Did you know that Palm Springs is now officially a “Sanctuary City” for drag performers? Well, Pride weekend will be serving it in spades:
Vanity’s Dollhaus & One Eleven Bar Events: Over-the-top drag artistry with wigs higher than the San Jacinto peaks.
Protect the Dolls Brunch: Mimosas + drag divas = your Sunday cure.
Drag Brunch at One Eleven Bar: High heels and higher notes, served with eggs Benedict.

Where to Stay & Travel Tips
Pride weekend sells out fast – especially at men’s resorts and boutique hotels – so book early. Check out the Visit Palm Springs hotel directory, Palm Springs Preferred Small Hotels, or our very own Best Clothing-Optional (Men-Only) Resorts in Gay Palm Springs article.
Travel Tips
Hydrate & SPF: The desert sun is unforgiving, even in November. You know you’ll be thirsty, so be mindful of extra-hydration along the way.
Day-to-Night Looks: Pride here goes from poolside speedo to circuit couture in 20 minutes flat. Pack (or shop locally) accordingly.
Pace Yourself: Between Leather Pride, pool parties, and after-hours – it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Have no shame in power naps or being fashionably late to the party.
Gay Palm Springs Pride Packing List
Here’s what you really need for Palm Springs Pride 2025:
SPF 50+ Sunscreen: Because “crispy lobster chic” is not a Pride look.
Hydration Essentials: Water bottle, electrolytes, maybe several coconut waters for the hangovers.
Day-to-Night Outfits: Short-shorts for brunch, harness for Leather Pride, tank for the parade, something sheer for the after-parties – or shop local for some new lewks.
Comfy Shoes: Stilettos are best left to the drag queens (unless you are one, then werk). Just remember, you’ll be walking and dancing a LOT.
Swimwear (or not): Unless you’re staying at one of our fabulous clothing-optional resorts, pack your sexiest swimwear (options, please).
Portable Fan (Handheld, Battery-Powered or Daddy): The desert heat might test you.
Phone Charger / Power Bank: Because posting “just one more selfie” will drain your battery faster than you think.
A Playful Spirit: Come ready to make friends, flirt shamelessly, and dance like no one’s watching (unless you want them to).

Insider Tips (from your Palm Springs Guys)
Arrive early: claim your favorite sightline and get that first toast in before the first float.
Lean into the vibe: bold colors, breathable fabrics, SPF 50, and a hat or a fabulous parasol for shade.
Rideshare or walk in Uptown; parade-day parking gets busy near Palm Canyon.
Why Palm Springs Is Always a Good Idea
Beyond Pride weekend, Palm Springs thrives on year-round culture, queer-friendly community, and glorious weather. Fall (October–November) usually lands in that sweet spot – sunny days, pool-perfect afternoons, and sweater-worthy evenings – so you can hike, museum, and cocktail without melting. It’s also a very social town: from boutique hotel pools to art walks to happy hours, it’s easy to meet people and make real, lasting friendships – the kind that bring you back every season.
Secure your spot at Pride on the Rooftop 2025 – VIP or GA, just don’t wait. We’ll see you there!

You can expect international queer tastemakers, industry insiders, and wide‑smiling gay men flocking to our sun‑soaked oasis.
With over 325 days of sunshine and nearly 50% LGBTQ-identified population – our little desert oasis embodies gay belonging on a grand scale. So if this is your first time here in Palm Springs, breathe deep, let that mid‑century modernism envelope you, and get ready to live your best gay life for the week!
If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this article, please email us (and let us know why).
In the meantime, here’s Your Handy Gay Guide to IGLTA 2025 in Palm Springs 😎
Before the Convention: Arrive, Unpack, Explore
Touchdown & Checkin
Palm Springs International Airport delivers you in style in our newly renovated (renovations ongoing to be exact) adorable (outdoor!) airport. 🛬 For an immediate taste of Palm Springs, grab a quick espresso at The Pink Door – located conveniently near baggage claim – before you hop in your Uber.
Tell your driver to drive down 3400 E Tahquitz Canyon Way (they likely will by default for at least a few blocks) so you can see the "Pillars of Palm Springs" project – a showcase six art installations on the median of Tahquitz Canyon Way, running from the Airport to Palm Canyon Drive. You’ll literally see for yourself how much community matters here!
Check into a gay‑owned or queer‑friendly resort. Palm Springs has more gay resorts than anywhere on Earth: 11 inside the city and another in nearby Cathedral City. Many are clothing-optional resorts for men-only (that range from mild to wild, depending on your interests). Browse Palm Springs Preferred Small Hotels for the most mid-century-made-modern boutique hotels you can imagine. Or check out our Best Clothing-Optional (Men-Only) Resorts in Gay Palm Springs and Santiago, Descanso & Twin Palms Resorts: A Three-Way Comparison articles.
First Night Vibe-Check
Keep it low‑key and ease into vacation mode Stroll through downtown Palm Springs. It’s very walkable and brimming with restaurants and shops that will infuse the spirit of Palm Springs as fast as you get there from the airport.
We love shops like Peepa’s (and new Peepa’s Men’s Store), Destination PSP, and GayMart in the Arenas district (our official gayborhood district).
While you’re on Arenas, pop in for happy hour at one of our beloved local queer watering holes, like Blackbook (great bar food too!), Dick’s on Arenas (hey, daddy!), or QUADZ (video bar)!
Then eat your heart out at Ponzu (sushi), Clandestino (Mexican), or Ash & Vine (American fusion).
If you find yourself downtown on a Thursday and you aren’t *too* allergic to families with children – check out Palm Springs Village Fest, a weekly Thursday night street fair for local craft vendors and food trucks. Or walk on over to the Palm Springs Art Museum (Thursday nights are free for locals) and grab a bite at Livs.

Between Sessions: Quick Escapes That Won’t Hijack Your Schedule
Eats & Pick-Me-Ups
There are lots of options nearby the Palm Springs Convention Center. It helps to remember that everything is less than a 10 minute drive in any given direction in this town – and there’s really no traffic (yay)!
If you want to sneak away for a lunch break, grab a sandwich at Sherman’s Deli & Bakery or something with chicken over at Chicken Ranch – quick, delicious, and curated for ease.
Koffi is known for its coffee, baked goods, egg sandwiches, sandwich wraps, and local charm. It’s great if you're darting back to the Convention Center between panels. With three locations in town, your closest location will be Koffi Central, which is walkable from the Convention Center.
Pocket Escapes
If you can squeeze in 45 minutes or less, escape to the Moorten Botanical Garden. It’s not a big place, and it’s pure cacti and botanical bliss!
If you want a dose of creative inspiration, check out the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center or The Lofts Art District. And while you’re there, drop in Revivals for some thrifting (because you’ll also be helping humans in need through AIDS support via DAP Health)!
And if you’re looking for ALL of the pink we have in Palm Springs, swing by Trixie Motel – a pink paradise located in uptown Palm Springs, opened by Drag Race icon Trixie Mattel. If you can’t afford to stay there, you’ll be glad you at least saw it. There’s even an entire HBO series you can watch about the making of it – appropriately titled Trixie Motel.
Evening Shenanigans: When Palm Springs Comes Alive
Late-Night Culture
For more cocktail kitsch, check out PS Air Bar – Palm Springs only aviation themed restaurant & speakeasy bar, located (hidden) inside of the Bouschet market. You’ll be seated in first class seats (literally), and there might even be a drag queen or lounge singer serenading you throughout the evening.
And nothing says Palm Springs like The Purple Room – an old-Hollywood chic supper club hosting intimate entertainment accompanied by a classic surf 'n' turf menu. This is one of the regular spots the Rat Pack used to perform back in the day!
If retro kitsch is your after-conference vibe, check out the Art Museum’s somewhat secretive evening programming or a moonlit stroll around Forever Marilyn – a 26-foot tall Marilyn Monroe statue by artist Seward Johnson. The statue is now located in Palm Springs Downtown Park in front of the Palm Springs Art Museum (100 feet to the right of where she used to be more prominently placed)... Why was she moved when locals overwhelmingly wanted her to stay put? Because apparently Trina Turk wanted it that way 💸
Nightlife, The Gay Way
The Arenas District is where all the gays gather, of course. It’s a short block with plenty of bar hopping to be had. Look for the iconic “DRAG QUEEN CROSSING” caution sign, and consider it a warm welcome from a local drag queen. 👑
For a complete list of all events, drag shows, and weekly happy hours, visit our friends at Gay Desert Guide!
Just a short drive from Arenas, the popular Tool Shed is always hopping on Sunny Dunes Road – the original leather + Levi bar in Palm Springs. There’s plenty of cruising to be had there, especially on “Underwear Night” Thursdays and “Beer Bust” Sundays.
If you’re feeling extra thirsty, Club 541 – Palm Springs only sex club – is just a short walk across the street. Need we say more? 😈
After the Convention: Prolong Your Desert Paradise
Embrace the Nature
Go for an unforgettable hike in Indian Canyons or Tahquitz Canyon – peace, natural beauty, and powerful inspiration all wrapped into a mid-afternoon escape.
If you’ve got a half-day to kill, take a ride up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to Mt. San Jacinto State Park – the second-highest mountain range in Southern California. Once you reach the Mountain Station (elevation 8,516 feet above), you’ll have two restaurants and a bar to choose from, observation decks, over 50 miles of hiking trails, and THE most stunning views of the Coachella Valley there are.
If you’ve got a car rental or bike rental from BIKE Palm Springs Rentals, why not check out what Palm Springs modernism is all about? Neighborhood tours are one of the most inspiring things to do here because Palm Springs has one of the most concentrated collections of mid-century modern homes on the planet! It’s not difficult to stumble upon one of the many midcentury gems we have around here – just drive through virtually any neighborhood!
From Twin Palms to Old Las Palmas, each distinct neighborhood is perfect for Insta-mood shots that showcase Palm Springs at its most iconic. Neighborhood tours are the next best thing to Modernism Week.
Explore on your own, or check out our MCM Architecture Self-Guided Tour (complete with GPS directions)!
Count Your Blessings – And All Of Your New Friends
In Palm Springs, friendships form as easily as cocktail orders. Whether you're chatting with a fellow delegate by the pool or meeting new locals at a bar, Palm Springs is built for connection.
And let’s be real: year-round fabulous weather, plus gay-owned resorts, drag-run hotels, and a culture that embraces you like nowhere else – that’s the kind of hospitality that turns fleeting visits into lasting memories and friendships. So come for the IGLTA conference, stay for everything else. You’ll find your people here.
What brings you to this year’s IGLTA 2025 Conference? Let us know!

Just when you think you’ve done it all here, our little desert darling continues to surprise us with fresh, fabulous places to eat, sip, and indulge. That’s why Palm Springs isn’t just a gaycation spot (aka vacation spot for gay men). Here, the sun shines 350 days a year, your social calendar is never empty, and every new opening is another invitation to live your very best gay life here.
Lucky for us, 2025 has ushered in a crop of hot new spots that are already making waves with locals and travelers alike. From gelato with disco flair to cookies served HOT, these five new Palm Springs openings are serving it up with just the right amount of sass, flavor, and style.
If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this article, please email us (and let us know why).
In the meantime, here are 5 New Palm Springs Openings You Need To Try…
Ash & Vine
Set inside a lovingly restored 1936 bungalow wrapped in bougainvillea – former home of the beloved French Miso Cafe – Ash & Vine is the kind of restaurant that feels like dining at your best friend’s house – if your best friend just so happened to be a world-class chef. Helmed by Chef Matt Resler, the menu is global yet approachable, with bold flavors and an intimate, stylish vibe. It’s already become a foodie crush among Palm Springs locals who know a good thing when they taste it. It's a cozy date-night meets local neighborhood hangout. It’s actually owned by a collective of three (3) friends with a lifetime of experience in hospitality. We love that it’s not pretentious – just delicious, personal, and welcoming.
Check out our Ash & Vine reel on Instagram:
Bar Issi
If Ash & Vine is your cozy dinner date, then Bar Issi is your chic dinner date alternative. They are serving elevated coastal Italian vibes with seasonal California flair – and it has quickly become the desert’s buzziest new hideaway. Expect house-made pasta and wood-fired pizza, expertly crafted cocktails, and a sexy design-forward space that whispers White Lotus vibes. Palm Springs doesn’t do “subtle,” and Bar Issi is proof that sometimes more is never enough.
Check out our Bar Issi reel on Instagram:
Gelato-A-Go-Go
If you’ve been longing to dance your way into dessert heaven, then hop on down to Gelato-A-Go-Go. This new gelateria takes authentic Italian gelato and spins it with retro ‘70s disco vibes. Creamy scoops are served with style – and yes, they’ve got vegan options too (Gregory loved their chocolate oat milk!). It’s fun, funky, and refreshingly different. The perfect spot to cool down after a day in the desert sun or before heading out for a night on Arenas Road.
Check out our Gelato-A-Go-Go reel on Instagram:
Hot Cookie
Born in San Francisco’s Castro District, the legendary Hot Cookie has officially landed in Palm Springs, and it fits right in. Known for their cheeky, oversized cookies (and equally cheeky packaging), Hot Cookie is not your grandmother’s bakery. It’s indulgent, irreverent, and a little bit naughty in all the best ways. Grab a box for your friends, or don’t share at all. No judgment here. It’s a sex-positive vibe that screams Castro & LGBTQ+ spirit in the des(s)ert – featuring a wall of very hot customers in their signature underwear ;)
Check out our Hot Cookie reel on Instagram:
Livs
Nestled inside the Palm Springs Art Museum, Livs is the café locals are already buzzing about – and let's just say, we are living for it (pun fully intended). Spearheaded by Chef Gabriel Woo (of Bar Cecil fame), Livs brings together thoughtfully crafted espresso drinks, a menu as gorgeous as the space itself, and the kind of cultural cachet that makes brunch here feel like an event. Highlights for us were the gooey cinnamon bun, the potato pavé, and the eggs benedict on sourdough (one of the best Gregory has had!). With breakfast, lunch, and Thursday night dinners on the menu, Livs has the potential for being the cultural “it” spot to linger before or after your art fix.
Check out our Livs reel on Instagram:
Why Gay Palm Springs Keeps Getting Better
As we always like to say, Palm Springs is more of a lifestyle than a destination. With year-round sunshine, an ever-evolving cultural scene, and a built-in queer community that feels more like family, there’s truly nowhere else like it.
New openings like these are just the cherry on top of a sundae that never melts in the heat. Whether you’re here to make new friends, discover hidden gems, or simply bask in the kind of warm welcome that only Palm Springs can offer, one thing’s for sure: your best gay life is waiting right here in the low desert.
Have you already been to any of these spots? Tell us what you ordered and loved! Share your experiences in the comments below…

Why Summer Is the Best Time to Buy in Gay Palm Springs
Discover why summer is the best time to buy in the Palm Springs real estate market, how it’s giving buyers the upper hand – and why gay Palm Springs is calling your name.
If you’ve ever stepped foot in Palm Springs and thought, “Could I just… stay forever?” – you’re not alone. Between the sunshine, sexy pool parties, and more mid-century modern eye candy than anywhere else, Palm Springs is the place gay dreams are made of.
If you’re considering buying into a slice of this desert paradise, now might be the smartest (and hottest) time to do it.
If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this article, please email us (and let us know why).
In the meantime, here’s why we think summer is the best time to buy in Gay Palm Springs.
It's (Currently) A Buyer's Playground
Yep, you heard that right. Palm Springs is still in a buyer’s market, which means you’ve got leverage, gurl. That means more wiggle room on price, better options, better terms, and the chance to actually sleep on it (without losing the deal). But fair warning: this won’t last much longer.
Hot Summers Are Ideal For Buyers
Palm Springs summers may be toasty, but that’s precisely why smart buyers are making their moves now. Fewer tourists means less competition – and sellers are more likely to negotiate when the city’s a little quieter. While everyone else is cooling off in the pool, savvy gays are locking in their desert dream homes.
Inventory Is Still Plentiful
There’s still plenty of inventory to choose from across Palm Springs' beautiful neighborhoods, from high-style condos in the historic Tennis Club district to sprawling mid-century marvels in Vista Las Palmas. Whether you're looking for a weekend retreat or your full-time queer sanctuary, the options are diverse.
But Change Is Coming
Word on the street (and by street, we mean data from actual real estate economists) is that we could see a shift toward a seller’s market this fall. Translation: more buyers, less inventory, and tighter competition. So if you want in before the crowd, the time is now.
Book Those Private Tours
If you're ready to see for yourself, I (Glen Nadeau) am happy to be your Palm Springs real estate spirit guide. As a local expert (and one half of this fabulous duo behind The Palm Springs Guys), I know this market inside and out. Let’s book your private tours now and start your journey towards finding your gay desert dream home.
Don’t be shy. Call or text me at: 805-220-8097– or email me directly at: glen.nadeau@compass.com.
Why Palm Springs Is Always a Smart Idea
Palm Springs is like summer camp for grown-up gay men with free spirits and great taste. Whether it’s January or July, this desert oasis offers 350+ days of sunshine and a welcoming LGBTQ+ community that’s unmatched anywhere else. From world-class dining and mid-century-made-modern design to poolside flirtations and drag brunches, every season is gay pride here.
Palm Springs is full of kindred spirits ready to become new friends. It will always be a smart investment – in your dream home, your community, and your quality of life.
Would you move to Palm Springs full-time if you could? What would your dream home look like? Let us know.

Drag & Fly Tours: Anita Doll’s Five Eras of Palm Springs
The five eras that shaped Palm Springs – from yesterday’s sacred springs to today’s LGBTQ+ mecca – through the eyes of local drag queen Anita Doll. Her Drag & Fly Tour blends history, humor, and high camp aboard Palm Springs’ most fabulous attraction.
Have you ever gotten Palm Springs history lessons from a drag queen on a tour bus with music videos, trivia, and actual prizes? Because that’s how we roll in the desert these days – literally.
Recently, The Palm Springs Guys experienced the iconic Drag & Fly Tours hosted by Anita Doll and Miss B. Guided (aka Rosemary Galore), and Palm Springs has never been more fabulously educational.
Anita, a former journalist turned storytelling showgirl, guides guests through five distinct eras that shaped Palm Springs into the queer desert utopia it is today – all aboard a luxury “theater on wheels” that turns history into herstory.
Thanks to Anita (a.k.a. JD Cargill), we now have a sassy, smart, and deeply thoughtful breakdown of Palm Springs’ queer-coded history – and as far as we’re concerned, it’s a theory worth considering.
If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this article, please email us (and let us know why).
In the meantime, here is Drag & Fly Tour’s Anita Doll’s five eras of Palm Springs...
Era 1: The Agua Caliente Era (Ancient–19th Century)
Before the movie stars and muscle gays, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians were the first to call Palm Springs home – for thousands of years before Western settlers. The sacred hot springs were the literal and spiritual lifeblood of this region.
They believed in at least three genders, recognizing a “Two-Spirit” identity long before Westerners caught up. Their worldview instinctively saw gender as non-binary, rooted in spiritual and social balance – which means that this level of Queer wisdom has been around longer than all 1 million seasons of Drag Race.
The spring, still bubbling beneath the luxurious Séc-he Spa, was much more than just a spa day back then. It was survival, spirituality, and sanctuary. The stage was being set for Palm Springs eventually becoming a place of healing, transformation, and deeper connection.
In many ways, this era centers around the healing power of water – a resource so vital that it defined where and how people lived for generations.
Era 2: The Founding Mothers Era (Late 1800s–Early 1900s)
The early 1900s gave us the original wellness influencers: a fierce group of women who built guest houses, sanitariums, and health retreats around those mineral-rich waters and our refreshingly dry desert air.
Enter Nellie Coffman (who built the iconic Desert Inn in 1909), Pearl McCallum, Cornelia White, Ruth Hardy, and more. These ladies created what Anita calls the “Girl Power Era,” establishing Palm Springs as a healing hideaway, rooted in the belief that the mineral-rich waters and arid desert air offered therapeutic benefits – especially for those suffering respiratory conditions.
They were building empires before they could vote, honey.
Today, their impact still echoes. The site of the Desert Inn is now home to the Rowan Hotel, and the Marilyn Monroe statue is just a stone throw away – both symbols of modern Palm Springs still standing on historic ground.
Era 3: The Hollywood’s Playground Era (1920s–1960s)
Once word got out about Palm Springs, the stars began to descend. Why? Because Palm Springs was just far enough (100 miles) from Hollywood that paparazzi wouldn't follow. Locals still refer to this as the “100 mile” rule.
Actors were also contractually obligated to still be close enough if they needed to be called into the studio last-minute. Palm Springs was the perfect escape.
Later, once cameras did arrive, the resorts were walled, gated, and gloriously hush-hush. Resorts were discreet, and owners were known for fiercely protecting their guests' privacy.
From the silent film era to the Rat Pack years, Palm Springs became a secret escape for the famous and fabulous during this era: Liberace, Rock Hudson, Truman Capote, Tallulah Bankhead, Marlene Dietrich, Cary Grant, and dozens more.
This was the era of mental health and personal freedom. Queer (but closeted) stars with “career-ending secrets” could live, love, and lounge under the radar – poolside martini in hand. 🍸
Notable venues included El Mirador, Ingleside Inn, the Desert Inn, the Oasis Hotel, and the Racquet Club (where Marilyn Monroe famously caught the eye of her agent).
Era 4: The Modernism Era (1940s–1970s)
Eventually, Hollywood’s elite stopped renting and started building.
As stars like Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope began buying and building homes, they hired the top architects of the day (now known as the Modern Masters – Albert Frey, Donald Wexler, William Krisel) to design custom homes that mirrored their liberated lives.
It was all about clean lines, indoor-outdoor living, and a fresh way of thinking – modernism as metaphor. Open floor plans met open sexuality, and a new aesthetic was born. Modernism symbolized freedom of thought and lifestyle – again tying back to health in terms of creative and personal expression.
The stars settled in, and the culture of design, art, and inclusivity blossomed. Even behind the scenes, queer influence shaped Palm Springs’ look and feel.
So next time you’re touring a MCM house in Palm Springs, remember that you’re walking through decades of queer-forward design thinking.
Era 5: The Queer Era (1980s–Present)
Then came the 1980s. A dark time, indeed – but also one of resilience.
As AIDS devastated our community, many sick gay men came to Palm Springs seeking the same healing energy their predecessors had. Gay men from San Francisco who were HIV+ had nowhere else to turn because the only hospitals who would treat them were here in Palm Springs. They essentially came here to die – and be cared for with dignity until then.
This marked the beginning of Desert AIDS Project (now DAP Health) – and from there, something powerful bloomed.
Palm Springs became a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ community. Over the decades, a chosen family gathered: survivors, lovers, best friends, and allies. Now, it’s a place where representation reigns – from KGAY 106.5 FM to rainbow crosswalks and a majority-LGBTQ city council.
Today, inclusivity is a lifestyle here in Palm Springs: The city is now a global queer mecca, where identity is celebrated, and the healing, expression, and liberation continues.
The Common Thread: Health
As Anita brilliantly summarizes, health is the throughline across all five eras:
The Agua Caliente: Water as sacred life force
Founding Mothers: Wellness retreats in the healing desert air
Hollywood: Emotional and mental refuge
Modernism: Design as freedom of thought and spirit
Queer Era: Healing and community through crisis and recovery
Why You Belong Here, Too
Whether it’s the sacred wisdom of the Agua Caliente or the fierce resilience of the queer community during the AIDS crisis, Palm Springs has always been a place of transformation, freedom, and healing – especially for those of us seeking to live our best gay lives. And thanks to Anita Doll’s Drag & Fly Tours, this rich history is now more accessible and entertaining than ever.
So, if you're planning a visit (and you absolutely should), add this drag queen-hosted joyride to your must-do list. Between the sunshine, the architecture, the pool parties, and now the most fabulous sightseeing tour on wheels, Palm Springs proves again and again that there’s nowhere quite like it.

From Barracks to Eagle: The Leather Legacy Lives On in Gay Palm Springs
Introducing the Eagle Cathedral City bar, uncovering the surprising LGBTQ+ nightlife history of Cathedral City, and why gay Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley is still the ultimate desert getaway.
Welcome to Gay Palm Springs (But First… Cathedral City)
We’re all a buzz of excitement here in Palm Springs because we’re gearing up for the ultimate queer nightlife comeback with the upcoming Eagle Cathedral City – a leather community legacy reborn!
That’s right – a brand-new Eagle bar is officially coming soon to Cathedral City, California. If you know anything about the legendary Eagle bars across the country, you know they’re not your average cocktail lounges. They’re unapologetically queer, kink-positive, leather-leaning safe spaces that celebrate community, connection, and a little (or a lot of) good old-fashioned gay cruising-culture debauchery.
But Cathedral City isn’t just getting a new bar – it’s reclaiming its rightful place in the queer nightlife hall of fame. Before Palm Springs became the shimmering epicenter of queer fabulousness, Cathedral City was already doing most of the heavy-lifting to pave the way.
Yes, momma – Cathedral City was the quiet pioneer, the original Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. While Palm Springs was busy with its mid-century closeted cocktail crowd, Cathedral City was where the first openly gay bars in the Coachella Valley dared to sashay into existence. It’s where queer desert nightlife was born, raised, and perfected – making this new Eagle a symbolic full-circle moment.
If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this article, please email us and let us know (and let us know why)!
In the meantime, here’s what we know so far about the new Eagle Cathedral City…
Tha Barracks (RIP)
The New Eagle Bar: Rising from the Ashes of The Barracks
The beloved Barracks Bar shuttered in mid-2024 after a legendary 31-year run of beer busts, harnesses, and gay mischief. Many have said, “That space will never be a bar again” – but it appears that Eagle Cathedral City is very much taking its place.
"THE SCENE YOU’VE BEEN CRAVING IS LANDING THIS WINTER"... That's all it says on their Instagram and Facebook page right now. So get ready, boys – winter is coming 😉
Eagle bars are iconic in the gay nightlife scene, known for embracing leather, kink, and unapologetic freedom. From Eagle NYC to Eagle LA – even Eagle 501 (now Dick’s on Arenas) here in Palm Springs – these bars are less about bottle service and more about bottle service ;) Think dark rooms, testosterone-forward beats, and a crowd that leans into cruising culture over cocktail culture. If the Eagle brand stays true to form, we’re in for a sweaty, cruisy, unapologetically queer new chapter in Cathedral City nightlife.
A Brief History of Cathedral City’s Fabulous Gay Nightlife
Before Cathedral City became the underrated brother of Palm Springs, it was the place to go out if you were queer and fabulous in the desert. Starting in the 1930s, clubs like the Dunes Club (1931) and the 139 Club (1939) drew eclectic, often queer-friendly crowds.
By the 1970s and ’80s, the city’s relaxed incorporation laws made it a refuge for gay entrepreneurs who couldn’t open bars in Palm Springs proper due to stricter ordinances. Cat City was already serving queer realness at iconic spots like Queen’s Attic (1969), GAF (1970), and Oil Can Harry’s Spa (1971). Other trailblazers included The Party Room, Sir James, Daddy Warbucks, and Rancho Dandy at the Desert Palms Hotel.
By the time Wolf’s Den opened in 1992 (The Barracks was originally opened as the Wolf Den), Cathedral City was already known as the leather and kink capital of the Coachella Valley. Bars like Trunks, One Eleven Bar, The Roost Lounge, The Runway, and of course, The Barracks, carved out space for identity, expression, and resistance.
Meanwhile, Palm Springs finally caught up in 1991 with the now-iconic Streetbar, giving the Arenas district the gay street cred it’s known for today.

Why Cathedral City Deserves More Gay Credit
Cathedral City is the kind of place where long-term locals and leather daddies mingle with curious newcomers, and where the party doesn’t need to be Instagrammed to be iconic.
Sure, Palm Springs has the polished resorts and the gogo boys – but Cathedral City has roots. And with Eagle on the horizon, the city may be headed for a renaissance that merges its underground energy with a new wave of travelers and locals ready to keep the party going.
Why Visiting Gay Palm Springs (and Cathedral City) Is Always a Good Idea

Beyond the history and hot spots, Palm Springs and Cathedral City remain the ultimate gay desert escape. It’s sunny 350 days a year (seriously), there’s always something happening – from Pride festivals to modernism week – and the community is one of the friendliest you’ll find anywhere.
Whether you're laying naked poolside, exploring the mid-century architecture, or living your best gay life at a Sunday beer bust, it's almost effortless to make new friends and create lasting connections here.
And now with Cathedral City’s nightlife legacy getting the spotlight it deserves as the Eagle prepares to flap its wings, this is your moment to rise from the ashes too (i.e. come visit us)!
Stay tuned for more info on the Eagle Cathedral City’s grand opening (TBA).
Did you ever party at The Barracks? What’s your favorite memory there? Share your experiences (if you dare)! 😈

5 Things We Always Tell Gay Friends Visiting Palm Springs for the First Time
Planning your first Palm Springs gaycation? Here are 5 things we always tell our gay friends visiting Palm Springs for the first time – insider vacation tips on weather, nightlife, resorts, and embracing your fabulous self.
We’ve lived in Palm Springs for five years now, and let us tell you – there’s simply nowhere else quite like it. If you’re a gay man looking to live your best vacation fantasy (and maybe even flirt with the idea of staying for good), Palm Springs is the sun-soaked, speedo-clad, cocktail-in-hand escape of your dreams.
Palm Springs isn’t just gay-friendly – it’s practically gay-designed. From the moment you land, the mountains flirt with you, the boys wink at you, and the warm desert breeze whispers, “Take off your shirt, sexy.”
Whether you're coming to party, relax, explore, connect, or disconnect, here are the 5 things we always tell our gay friends before their first visit.
If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this article, please email us and let us know (and let us know why)!
1. Yes, it’s hot here in the desert – but it’s not like how you imagine.
Here’s the truth: desert heat hits differently. If you’re coming from a humid place like NYC or DC, 80° there feels like 110°. But here, a dry 105° can actually feel... dare we say... refreshing. Or at least comfortable.
That said, don’t get cocky about it. The sun is strong, the booze is stronger, and the dehydration is real. Hydrate often (we love a reusable water bottle), layer on that SPF, and bring a fan you can snap open for dramatic effect (yaass, Queen).
Pro Tips:
Do your hiking, brunching, or grocery shopping early.
Head indoors mid-afternoon – think Palm Springs Art Museum exploration, or a stylish air-conditioned nap.
Take the Aerial Tramway to escape the heat – temps up there can be 20° cooler (and the views are magnificent)!
With more pools per capita than anywhere in the country, take a dip – day or night.
2. You’ll feel more seen here than anywhere else you’ve been – so embrace it.
Palm Springs is proudly over 40% LGBTQ+. That means wherever you go – whether it’s the farmer’s market, a drag brunch, or Trader Joe’s – you’ll feel like you belong here.
Don’t hold back. Hold hands. Rock the mesh tank. Flirt with strangers. Be the main character at brunch. Whether you’re 25 or 75 – a twink, a bear, or a daddy – you’re part of the tapestry here.
From our local government and police force to our local businesses and eateries – there’s something magical and deeply healing about being in a town where your queerness is celebrated.
3. Most of our resorts for men-only are clothing-optional – but that doesn’t mean what you think.
Yes, most of our resorts for men-only clothing-optional. But that can mean different things depending on where you stay.
Looking for a relaxed, classy vibe with a friendly crowd? Start with Santiago Resort – perfect for first-timers. Ready to crank up the steam? Casa Oliver brings the heat (and then some).
Etiquette 101:
Be yourself, but embrace the opportunity to be as free as you’d like.
Keep your phone to yourself (no photos!).
Respect everyone’s vibe – friendships and flings happen naturally.
And who knows? That stranger in the hot tub might just become your new bestie. It happens all the time here.
4. Check out the theme parties – but pace yourself!
Palm Springs nightlife comes to life when a good theme calls. At Tool Shed, underwear night is always a popular weekly attraction. Be sure to wear your sexiest jock strap and leather harness for this – or make a pit stop at Gear Leather & Fetish next door.
Pro tip: the “Palm Springs pour” is not for amateurs. One drink here is often a double (and it’s still 90° outside), so sip wisely, gurrrl.
After Dark Suggestions:
Start at Tool Shed or Dicks on Arenas
Dance it out at Chill Bar or Quadz in the Arenas district after, or…
If you're in the mood for more... Club 541 (Palm Springs’ new sex club) is across the street.
Take a Lyft or Uber. Nobody looks cute getting a DUI in a harness.
5. During in-season (September–May), make those dinner reservations in advance – and leave time for a disco nap.
Palm Springs is a seasonal lady – and when she’s in-season, everyone’s out. Tables book up fast, especially at hot spots like:
Bar Cecil (try booking 1–2 months out!)
Clandestino, Lola Rose, and Ponzu are also go-to faves.
Shows, concerts, and drag revues can start early (7 or 8 PM), but the bars don’t start hopping until 9 or 10. Our advice is to plan ahead for dinner, take a disco nap, then head out looking rested and radiant.
Why Gay Palm Springs Is Always a Good Idea
Year-round sunshine, breathtaking desert views, and one of the most welcoming LGBTQ+ communities in the world? Yes, please.
From chill pool days to wild theme nights, from world-class dining to once-in-a-lifetime friendships, Palm Springs invites you to strip off the expectations, dive into freedom, and just… be exactly who you are inside and out. You’ll come alive here.
If you could give one piece of advice to a gay friend visiting PS for the first time, what would it be? What surprised you most during your first visit to Palm Springs? Share your experiences!

Why the 2025 DBA Impact Awards Stole Our LGBTQ+ Hearts
A recap of the 2025 DBA Impact Awards in Palm Springs – celebrating LGBTQ+ changemakers, queer joy, and why gay travelers contribute so much to our vibrant, inclusive community here in the Coachella Valley!
Let’s get one thing straight – I mean, GAY. Because here in Palm Springs, we like our sunshine bright, our cocktails full, and our LGBTQ+ community loud and proud 365 days a year. And nowhere was our radiant community support more palpable than at the 2025 DBA Impact Awards this week – hosted by the Desert Business Association (DBA), our local LGBTQ+ and allied chamber of commerce.
For visitors and locals alike, events like these are a heartwarming reminder that Palm Springs isn’t just a destination – it’s a celebration of who we are.
What Are the DBA Impact Awards?
In case you’re new to town (hi, welcome, let’s grab a drink later), the Desert Business Association is the Coachella Valley’s only LGBTQ+ business chamber organization. Founded in 1979, DBA has been advocating for equality, inclusion, and economic empowerment for over 40 years.
Each year, the DBA Impact Awards shine a well-deserved spotlight on local businesses, nonprofits, and community members who uplift and inspire. From trailblazing trans advocates to queer-owned start-ups, this awards ceremony honors those making a meaningful difference across the desert – the tears were flowing like bottomless mimosas.
A Night to Remember
Presented at the Palm Springs Convention Center with a crowd full of style and chosen family vibes, the 2025 ceremony was surprisingly one of the more moving events we’ve attended. Emotional speeches, applause, and that signature Palm Springs charm created a space where love, recognition, and resilience took center stage.
Beyond the awards, the energy was actually the star of the show. The entire evening was an important reminder that this desert town continues to be a sanctuary where LGBTQ+ folks are not only safe, but celebrated.
Local Legends & Desert Pride
The entire evening flowed effortlessly thanks to the ever-charming Peter Daut of KESQ, who emceed with warmth, wit, and the kind of smile that should honestly have its own Instagram account.
And then came the honors – a lineup of truly deserving community champions whose work uplifts our region every day. This year’s Impact Award recipients included:
Business of the Year – Stonewall Gardens Assisted Living
Businessperson of the Year – Bob Smiland, Desert Hand Car Wash
Outstanding Community Service Organization – Dinner with Patsi
Outstanding Community Service Leader – Palm Springs Police Department – All Officers and Staff
Legacy Award – Lisa Middleton, Former Palm Springs Mayor and Council Member
Each acceptance speech was a love letter to the Coachella Valley – filled with tearful emotion, gratitude, and the kind of stories that reminded everyone in the room why this community is unlike anywhere else.
What’s more, the event raised funds to benefit Youth Educational Scholarships through Safe Schools Desert Cities, helping support the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders. Because in Palm Springs, we don’t just talk about making a difference – we actually do it.
Why Gay Palm Springs Is Always a Good Idea
If you’re feeling pulled to a place where you can show up as your full, authentic, fabulous self – Palm Springs is it. With nearly 50% of the population identifying as LGBTQ+, our city has become a beacon for queer travelers from around the globe and a trailblazer for inclusivity – from our local government to our police force to our community itself.
Here’s what also makes it magical:
Endless sunshine (300+ days a year—yes, really ☀️)
Year-round events like Palm Springs Pride, Modernism Week, Coachella, Palm Springs Hot Rodeo, and SO many more
World-class resorts, spas, and nightlife tailored – many being for the gay male traveler
It’s not just the palm trees and the pool parties – it’s the people. The 2025 DBA Impact Awards reminded us why we fell in love with Palm Springs in the first place. The fearless and resilient, big-hearted humans who make this place feel like home, even if you’re just visiting.
So pack your short-shorts and come live your best gay life here in the desert. We’ll be here with clothes off (I mean, bells on).

Santiago Resort Celebrates 30 Sexy Years of Gay Hospitality in Palm Springs
Celebrate 30 sexy years of elevated gay hospitality at Santiago Resort in Palm Springs, California – one of the longest-running clothing-optional gay men’s resorts in the desert. Discover why it’s still a top destination for gay travelers seeking sun, style, and safe spaces in Gay Palm Springs.
Let’s give a round of applause (and maybe a poolside mimosa toast) to Santiago Resort, which is marking its 30th anniversary this year – a major accomplishment that just might make it the longest continuously operating gay resort in all of Palm Springs! 👏 🥂
What started in 1995 as a vision for a safe, welcoming, and elevated experience for gay men has blossomed into one of the most celebrated destinations in the Coachella Valley. Today, Santiago is a rite of passage for anyone serious about soul-refreshing ways to celebrate who they are, no matter where they are coming from.
“Now more than ever, the gay community needs places like Santiago where we can feel safe and welcome,” says Santiago’s General Manager Kent Taylor. We couldn’t agree more!
Under new gay ownership since 2015, Santiago has been consistently refreshed and elevated while staying true to its core values of warmth, inclusivity, and luxury. With nearly 1,000 glowing 5-star reviews across Google and TripAdvisor, guests rave about its lush tropical landscaping, peaceful ambiance, and the friendliest team a naked gay man could ask for.
And let’s take a look at just a few enticing highlights:
24 stylish King-bedded guest rooms with modern walk-in rain showers
The largest climate-controlled pool at any men’s resort in Palm Springs
Complimentary continental breakfast and poolside lunch daily
A bubbling spa, Insta-worthy outdoor shower, and shady new misted sun deck
It’s no wonder Santiago has racked up accolades like TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Award (for over 10 years running), "Best Gay Stay in the US" from GayCities, and OUTstanding Clothing Optional Resort by GED Magazine.
Meet Santiago’s Brothers: Descanso & Twin Palms
Like any successful big brother, Santiago eventually gave rise to a family of equally fierce sibling resorts. In 2021, Descanso Resort opened its doors, offering another elevated gay men's resort experience with a luxe spa feel. Then in 2022, Twin Palms Resort joined the party, offering chic mid-century vibes in a sleek, private setting.
Here’s the quickie breakdown:
Santiago Resort: Lush, tranquil, and iconic. The OG.
Descanso Resort: Spa-like, elegant, and refined. Think enchanting, but sexy.
Twin Palms Resort: Stylish, social, and full of retro charm. The boys love this one.
Can’t decide which one suits your vibe best? Don’t stress – we wrote a full comparison just for you 👉 Santiago, Descanso & Twin Palms Resorts: A Three-Way Comparison

Date Night, Upgraded: Palm Springs’ Most Romantic Speakeasy Bars
Explore our favorite hidden speakeasy bars in Palm Springs, perfect for a romantic date night. Uncover intimate settings, crafted cocktails, and the vibrant LGBTQ+ scene that makes Palm Springs a must-visit destination.
We recently co-wrote a roundup of five amazing speakeasy-style bars with Kathy Condon from the Palm Springs Insider Guide for our friends at Palm Springs Preferred Small Hotels. Whether you're into secret entrances, moody lighting, or next-level cocktails, this one's for you.
If you think Palm Springs is all pool floats and brunch spots, you’re only skimming the surface. When the sun dips behind the San Jacinto mountains, the night magic begins. Tucked behind velvet curtains and unmarked doors are some of the coolest, most intimate speakeasies you’d never know were there – unless a local let you in on the secret.
For gay men seeking a blend of intimacy, style, and a touch of mystery, these hidden speakeasies offer the perfect backdrop for unforgettable evenings. So consider this your official invite to dig deeper into low-desert nightlife because these hidden gems are serving moody lighting, jaw-dropping cocktails, and serious main-character energy.
If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this article, please email us and let us know (and let us know why you love it too)!
In the meantime, here are five of Palm Springs’ Most Romantic Speakeasy Bars in our opinion…
1. Counter Reformation
Tucked within the lush grounds of the Parker Palm Springs, Counter Reformation offers a cozy setting reminiscent of a Parisian wine bar. With its eclectic wine selection (no spirits) and savory small plates, it's the perfect spot for a romantic evening or a chic pre-dinner drink. And there’s an actual confessional at the far end of the bar, should you feel the need for redemption after all the fun you’ve had in Palm Springs!
2. Seymour’s
Enter through Mr. Lyons Steakhouse and discover Seymour’s, a hidden gem that exudes mid-century elegance. With its cozy leather banquettes and vintage artwork, it's the ideal setting for whispering sweet nothings over expertly crafted cocktails. The outdoor patio, complete with a roaring fire pit, adds a touch of warmth to your evening rendezvous.
3. The Evening Citizen
With an intentionally cryptic entrance, The Evening Citizen invites you into a world of intrigue. Candlelit interiors and dark walls set the mood for deep conversations and shared secrets. Don't miss the "Backstabber," a dark twist on the classic Bees Knees cocktail, perfect for toasting to new beginnings or celebrating lasting connections.
4. Tailor Shop
Tailor Shop offers a refined atmosphere where every detail is meticulously crafted. From the plush seating to the curated playlist, it's a haven for couples seeking a sophisticated night out. Indulge in their delectable dumplings and let the evening unfold in style.
5. Bootlegger Tiki
Located right next to Tailor Shop, step into a tropical paradise at Bootlegger Tiki, where bamboo decor and exotic cocktails transport you to a bygone era. The intimate setting is perfect for cozying up with your date, sharing stories, and sipping on their renowned non-traditional mai tai.
Why Palm Springs is a Must-Visit for Gay Travelers
There’s so much to experience here in Palm Springs. With its year-round sunshine, vibrant LGBTQ+ community, and rich cultural offerings, it's a place where every gay man can feel at home. Whether you're lounging by the pool, exploring hidden speakeasies, or making new connections, Palm Springs offers a unique blend of relaxation and excitement that's hard to compete with elsewhere. So embrace the magic of the desert and let Palm Springs be the backdrop to your next romantic adventure.

Is Mid-Century Modern on Hulu Just Gay Fiction? Here’s the Real Palm Springs Tea
Thinking about vacationing in Palm Springs? Hulu’s Mid-Century Modern is fueling the fantasy, but the real-life version is even better. Here’s what gay life in Palm Springs actually looks like — and why it should be your next getaway.
Let’s be real: Mid-Century Modern on Hulu is everything Gay Palm Springs. Iconic architecture. Sarcastic gay men in their prime. Poolside drama. Linda Lavin.
But the real gag? You don’t have to binge a sitcom pretending to live your best gay life when you can actually be here surrounded by palm trees, pool floats, and Palm Springs mid-century perfection.
Because here in Palm Springs, it’s not a fantasy. It’s the lifestyle!
Whether you’re visiting for the first time or you’ve been flirting with the idea of moving here permanently (you wouldn’t be the first!), let’s break down what this Hulu hit got right, what it got hilariously wrong, and why Palm Springs is still the desert capital that gay dreams are made of.
If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this article, please email us and let us know (and let us know why)!
In the meantime, here’s the real Palm Springs tea…
Mid-Century Modern: Glammed-Up Fiction or Desert Reality?
In Mid-Century Modern, three gay besties — Bunny, Jerry, and Arthur — move into a mid-century house in Palm Springs after a funeral and proceed to live together, surrounded by martinis, misadventures, and passive-aggressive zingers. Throw in Bunny’s live-in mother Sybil, and you've got a cross between Golden Girls and Will & Grace – but make it desert-chic.
Is this what life’s really like for gay men here in Palm Springs? Honestly? Kind of. But it’s also way better than you can imagine.
Yes, the Architecture Really Is That Sexy
Palm Springs is internationally known for its mid-century modern architecture. We’re talking:
Butterfly rooflines
Clerestory windows
Vintage breeze blocks
Pools that belong on a Slim Aarons postcard
Whether you’re strolling through Twin Palms, Vista Las Palmas, or Deepwell Estates, you’ll see homes that make you feel like you're in an Architectural Digest spread — except with fewer stylists and more shirtless men walking their dogs (aka their babies).
Want to geek out on architecture before you visit? Check out our Palm Springs Guys mid-century modern self-guided tour (Google Maps GPS-ready!) and discover the magic of Desert Modernism architecture for yourself.
Chosen Family Vibes? Very That.
The premise of friends becoming a chosen family? Not only realistic — it’s Palm Springs culture in a nutshell.
The community here is tight-knit, supportive, and refreshingly unbothered. Whether you’re single, partnered, throupled, or “it's complicated,” you’ll find your people here faster than you can say “poolside cocktail at 2.”
In fact, Palm Springs has the highest percentage of LGBTQ+ residents of any city in the U.S. That means the whole place is basically a gay friend group waiting to happen.
So… Should You Visit?
Uh, yes. Immediately. Especially now (considering the state our current government, if you can even call it governing). Palm Springs is like a double layer of protection for our beautiful, vibrant, and inclusive LGBTQ+ community and our allies here in Southern California. But I digress.
Mid-Century Modern may have put Palm Springs back on the map for Hulu-watching audiences, but the truth is — we’ve been living this dream in real time for years.
Here’s why gay men from across the country (and around the world) flock here year-round:
Weather That’s Practically a Drag Queen: Always Serving Looks
300+ days of sunshine
Stunning mountain views in every direction (in the desert? Yes)!
Pool season is… every season
Even our winters are giving “hot tub and rosé”
Culture & Events That Keep It Cute
Modernism Week is a dream for design lovers
Palm Springs Pride is one of the largest, most inclusive and joyful in the country
Drag brunches, cabaret nights, spa days, and shopping galore
Basically: There’s always something going on, and you’ll never feel out of place doing it
A Place Where You’ll Actually Make Friends
Whether it’s happy hours at Chill Bar, lounging at your boutique resort, or exchanging flirtatious smiles at the guy across the table at FARM — making new friends (and maybe more?) is the Palm Springs way.
You’ll meet locals. You’ll meet travelers. You might even meet someone who convinces you to come back... permanently. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Final Thoughts: Palm Springs Is the Gay Getaway You Deserve
If you’re looking for a place that combines stylish relaxation, a welcoming LGBTQ+ community, and enough retro-chic vibes to make your Hulu watchlist jealous, Palm Springs is it.
Come for the mid-century fantasy — stay for the sunshine, culture, and community that makes real life here even better than the show. Whether you're in your 20s or your golden years, Palm Springs is ready to show you a good time on repeat.
Which Mid-Century Modern character are YOU — Bunny, Jerry, Arthur, or Sybil? Have you been to Palm Springs before? What’s your favorite spot? Share your experiences!

Palm Springs Real Estate: Why Palm Springs is THE Place to Live Your Best Gay Life in 2025
Discover why Palm Springs is the ultimate destination for gay men looking to relocate, invest, or vacation in paradise in 2025 and beyond. From gay-friendly neighborhoods to stunning real estate options, Palm Springs offers an unparalleled lifestyle for the LGBTQ+ community.
It’s true that Palm Springs has crystal blue skies, swaying palm trees, and a drag brunch scene that could rival any big city Pride parade. But if you’re a gay man looking to live your best life year-round, there’s simply nowhere else like Palm Springs, California. Nestled in the heart of the Coachella Valley, Palm Springs is more than just a vacation hotspot for many full and part-time locals (ourselves included) – it’s a desert oasis where gay men thrive, connect, while investing in both their community and their futures. Whether you’re contemplating a part-time getaway home or a full-time fabulous abode, Palm Springs is the place where your next chapter begins.
If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this article, please email us and let us know (and let us know why)!
In the meantime, here’s why Palm Springs is THE place to live your best gay life in 2025 (and beyond).
Why Palm Springs is the Ultimate Gay Escape (and Investment Opportunity)
Neighborhoods Tailored for You
First things first, every neighborhood in Palm Springs is as gay-friendly as a Chappell Roan concert. From the upscale Movie Colony district to the mid-century modern gems in Deepwell, there’s a perfect spot for every lifestyle and budget. The Historic Tennis Club area offers luxury and charm, while Warm Sands is known for its LGBTQ+-friendly resorts and social atmosphere. Not to mention various up-and-coming neighborhoods like Demuth Park that you have the chance to invest in and help make as fabulous as the rest.

Price Points That Won’t Break the Bank
Yes, Palm Springs is glamorous, but it’s not Beverly Hills pricing. The market has cooled a bit, home prices are now more reasonable again, and there's more inventory all around. Homes here start around $800,000 for chic mid-century masterpieces, with plenty of investment properties available for part-time living or short-term rentals. It’s the kind of place where you can get a tan, sip a Rose Kennedy (the official unofficial gay drink of Palm Springs), and watch your property value soar – all in a day's work.
Investment Opportunities Galore
Even if you can’t commit to full-time living, Palm Springs is an investor’s paradise. With year-round tourism, short-term rental properties are hotter than the desert sun. And let’s be real – who doesn’t want to own a piece of gay paradise? The ROI on vacation rentals here can help fund those dreamy European getaways. Plus, it can be a smart way to build wealth for retirement – even serving as a future retirement home where you can eventually live full-time.
Open Houses are the New Sunday Funday
Next time you’re in town, skip the poolside daiquiris for an afternoon of open house hopping. It’s not just a way to scout for real estate – it’s practically a free mini Modernism Week event. Palm Springs open houses are where you’ll meet future neighbors, potential new besties, and maybe even get inspired to redesign your next desert home.

The new year is a time for fresh starts and bold decisions. Whether you’re buying your dream home or selling to embrace new opportunities, getting prepared now will set you up for success in 2025.
Even if you’re not ready to make the big move, Palm Springs is always worth a visit (or two, or ten). With endless sunny days, vibrant LGBTQ+ events, and the friendliest folks you’ll ever meet, Palm Springs is a place where community, culture, and connection thrive. Whether you come for a weekend or a lifetime, the desert welcomes you with open arms and the promise of unforgettable experiences. Best Gay Nightlife in Palm Springs
Every bar in Palm Springs is a gay bar as far as we're concerned. That's the beauty of a town that caters to the gay experience, so no matter where we go here in Palm Springs, we're free to be who we are without question…

Every bar in Palm Springs is a gay bar as far as we're concerned. That's the beauty of a town that caters to the gay experience, so no matter where we go here in Palm Springs, we're free to be who we are without question.
The Arenas district is the gayborhood epicenter of all things Gay Palm Springs. And while there's plenty of fun to be had in the Arenas, there's even more fun to be had all over Palm Springs and Cathedral City (aka Cat City).
That said, even Stefan from SNL is excited about Palm Springs hottest night clubs, so here is the Best Gay Nightlife in Palm Springs in our opinion (in alphabetical order)...
Bar Cecil celebrate those who follow the beat to their own drum with an asthetic as creative and inspiring as their food and cocktails.
Winner of Desert Sun's Best Restaurant in 2020, Blackbook is a the real "chill bar" in the Arenas district as far as we're concerned. It's sleek industrial style also features the largest whiskey selection in Palm Springs.
Located in the same space as the original Don the Beachcomber restaurant that opened in 1953, Bootlegger Tiki serves up delicious tiki cocktails in an intimate speakeasy-style setting.
Boozehounds aims to provide a friendly environment for both canines and their humans. By day, they are a coffee, co-working, and lunch spot. By night, they are a perfect happy hour and dinner destination for the whole family.
A sophisticated newcomer that elevates the Palm Springs bar scene, Canopy Wine Lounge boasts a curated selection of world-class wines. With its sleek atmosphere and commitment to unforgettable experiences, this stylish lounge has quickly become a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts and trendsetters alike.
The coolest (pun fully intended) gay bar and dance club here in Palm Springs, Chill Bar is another staple gay-borhood bar in our beloved Arenas district, featuring drag bingo, go-go boys, and our favotie disco-ball male statues (featured on The Palm Springs Guys website)!
Dick’s wants you to cruise heavy, drink up, have a blast, get horny, find a ride, and come back for more. It's right in the Arenas district too.
Hunters is Palm Springs’ go-to gay bar and dance club fun for 20 years now. Featuring the longest happy hour in all the Valley, Hunters serves up drag shows, karaoke, and Djs that keep the dance floor pumping (loudly!) right in the Arenas district.
Formerly Studio One 11, One Eleven Bar has everything you need to enjoy a cocktail with old friends and then a second with new ones. They've got weekly drag shows, karaoke, and live local entertainment (they've even got a grand piano they wheel onto the stage). Always free and always a good time, One Eleven is our favorite bar in Cat City!
PS Air Bar is a fun Airline-themed speakeasy inside the Bouschet wine store, featuring cocktails, dinner, naught flight attendants, and live entertainment on the weekends. You know we love a good theme bar!
Honoring the Rat Pack era, Michael Holmes’ Purple Room is the desert’s premier supper club and live performance space, featuring local and national jazz artists and the always popular, The Judy Show!, a parody of the great icons of the 60s.
This is our kind of "sports bar" because Quadz is a TV bar showing popular, classic & obscure music video clips that gay men just LOVE to sing along to in the Arenas district!
With plenty of atmosphere for all patrons “to roost,” the Roost Lounge in Cat City is a another friendly neighborhood gay bar with ongoing entertainment and karaoke.
Open since 1991, Streetbar is a neighborhood bar attracting locals and tourists. They specialize in Cabaret, Karaoke, and the strongest (cash-only) drinks on the block (but you didn't hear it from us)!
Nestled in Uptown Palm Springs, Tailor Shop offers a speakeasy-inspired escape into "fine spirits and bespoke traditions." Its dark, moody interior features velvet banquettes, leather chairs, and a striking wrap-around marble bar, creating an intimate and luxurious vibe—ideal for cooling off on warm desert nights.
The only leather and Levi bar in Palm Springs, the Tool Shed serves up daily happy hours, heavy cruising, and fun theme nights like their signature Thursday night "Underwear Nights" in the Warm Sands district.
Truss & Twine, the chic cocktail bar by Workshop Kitchen, takes you on a journey through time with its era-inspired classic cocktails. Paired with a desert-influenced menu crafted from fresh Coachella Valley ingredients, this spot is a perfect blend of timeless style and local flavor.
This mid-century lounge serves up boutique California wines, craft beers, and throwback cocktails. It's also a favorite destination for live music and drag performances, like Ross Mathew's "Dragtastic Bubbly Brunch".
