The heat, it turned out, did not actually prevent us from having one of the best weekends of our lives. We maneuvered it the way the locals do – pool in the afternoon, cool drinks in the shade, dinner after the sun dropped behind the mountains, and nights that were manageably warmer than we expected but electric in a way that neither of us had quite experienced before.
